The protein has a calculated MW of 96.6 kDa. The protein migrates as 95-100 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

低密度脂蛋白受體相關蛋白5（LRP-5）也被稱為BMND1、EVR1、EVR4、HBM、LR3、LRP7、OPPG、OPTA1、VBCH2、LDL受體相關蛋白五和PCLD4。LRP5是一種跨膜低密度脂蛋白受體，與LRP6具有相似的結構。LRP5作為LRP6和卷曲蛋白家族成員的共受體，通過經典Wnt通路由Wnt蛋白轉導信號。這種蛋白質在骨骼穩(wěn)態(tài)中起著關鍵作用。LRP5突變可導致骨量發(fā)生相當大的變化。功能喪失突變會導致骨質疏松癥假性膠質瘤（骨量減少），而功能獲得突變會導致骨量急劇增加。
