Cytochrome c reductase from porcine heart has been used:
- in the preparation of biosensors for the detection of nitrite
- in evaluating retentive properties studies
- to compare the cytochrome C reduction and binding abilities with heptakis(6-O-carboxymethyl-2,3-di-O-methyl)-β-cyclodextrin (CDM-β-CD)
Biochem/physiol Actions
Cytochrome c reductase is a flavoprotein that completes the oxidation-reduction chain between hexosemonophosphate and cytochrome c. The molecular weight of cytochrome c reductase is found to be approximately 78,000 Da. The prosthetic group of cytochrome c reductase is alloxazine mononucleotide. The enzyme is very unstable with respect to low pH and to denaturation by heat.
