Beschreibung

A bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid present in Stephania japonica, the base forms pale yellow prisms from EtOH and has the double melting point given above. It is laevorotatory with [α]³⁰_D - 28° (c 1.0, pyridine). The acetyl derivative has m.p. 157°C. The structure given above has been established on the basis of the NMR and mass spectra.
