Allgemeine Beschreibung

Tetrachloro-BPF (4,4'-Methylenebis(2,6-Dichlorophenol)) is produced by introducing chlorine into a solution of 4,4'-methylenebis(2-chlorophenol) in glacial acetic acid at room temperature or by treating 2,6-dichlorophenol with formalin in concentrated sulfuric acid at -10 ℃. It has antimicrobial properties, but because of its high toxicity it no longer has practical importance as a microbicide.
