Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
4-Amino-1,3-benzenedisulfonic Acid is used as a reagent in the synthesis of arylazopyridoxal phosphate and phosphonate derivatives as P2 receptor antagonists. | [Production Methods]
4-Amino-1,3-benzenedisulfonic acid is freely soluble in water and ethyl alcohol. It is prepared by sulfonating 4-aminobenzenesulfonic acid with oleum at 20 ℃ and130 ℃ (4 – 6.5 h), draining the sulfonation mixture into water under pressure, adding lime at 70 – 75 ℃, separating the resulting gypsum, precipitating the calcium ions with soda, removing the calcium carbonate formed, and concentrating the sodium salt solution by evaporation. Yield 90 – 91%
