General experimental procedure for the synthesis of phenoxazines/benzopyridoxazines(6a-6n)
General procedure: A microwave tube equipped with a magnetic stir bar was charged with the correspondingN-acetyl diphenyl ether (5a-5n) (1 mmol), Cs2CO3 (2 mmol) and DMF (20 V). The resultant reaction mixture was heated at 155 C for 15 minutes by microwave irradiation.After completion of the reaction, water was added, extracted with ethyl acetate.The combined organic layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and the solvent wasremoved under vacuum. The residue was then purified by Biotage Isolera silica gel(40-63 lm, 60 ?) flash column chromatography (hexane/EtOAc, 95:5) to afford the correspondingphenoxazines/benzopyridoxazines (6a-6n).Note: We noticed better recovery in the isolated yields, when the product was isolatedand purified as soon as the reaction completed.
