The aqueous layer was separated and extracted with petroleum ether (50.0 mL×2), and the combined organic phase was washed with water (50.0 mL×2) and saturated brine (50.0 mL). 11.4 g of orange oil was obtained, and the yield of the two steps was 77.2%.
