Steps:

Preparation of isofraxidin (9)
A solution of 8 (1.0 g, 4.8 mmol) was treated with methyliodide (0.4 mL, 6.4 mmol) in the presence of K₂CO₃(1.0 g, 7.2 mmol) in acetone (20 mL) at 60 °C for 3 h. After the reactionmixture was poured into aq satd NaCl, the whole was extracted with EtOAc. TheEtOAc extract was washed with aq satd NaCl and dried over MgSO₄.Removal of the solvent from the EtOAc extract under reduced pressure gave aresidue, which was purified by column chromatography (SiO₂ 20 g, n-hexane:EtOAc=2:1) to affordisofraxidin 9 (867 mg, 82%). Thestructure of obtained 9 wasidentified by the comparison of the spectroscopic data with reported⁸.
