4.1.3. General procedures for the preparation of ethyl 8-alkoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromene-3-carboxylates 3a-3g
General procedure: Diethyl malonate (1.1 mmol), piperidine (10 mL), and glacial acetic acid (1 mL) were added sequentially to a solution of intermediate 2 (1 mmol) in EtOH (5 mL). The mixture was heated under reflux overnight, poured into cool water, and extracted with DCM. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaCl aqueous solution, dried over anhydrous MgSO4, and evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (200-300 mesh, hexane: ethyl acetate = 4:1) to obtain the compounds 3a-3g.
