The suspension of 6-bromo-pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde (1.9 g, 10 mmol), morpholine (1.75 g, 20 mmol) and potassium carbonate (3 g, 22 mmol) in acetonitrile (20 ml) was refluxed for 20 hours. The reaction mixture was then cooled to room temperature, diluted with water (20 ml) and the pH was adjusted to 7 by the aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid. The mixture was poured into water (50ml) and extracted with ethylacetate (20 ml x 3). The combined organic layers were washed with water (10 ml x 2), brine (10 ml x 2), dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and evaporated under vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography over silica gel using 40 % ethyl acetate in hexane as the eluent to afford the titled compound (1.5 g) was obtained as yellow solid. 1HNMR (DMSOd6): δ 3.55 - 3.58 (4H, t), 3.91 - 3.94 (4H, t), 7.15 - 7.18 (1 H, d), 7.56 -7.61 (1 H, d), 7.65 - 7.6 (1 H, t), 9.98 (1 H1 s). m/e: 193 (M+1)
