6-methoxy-1,3,4,9-tetrahydropyrido[3,4-b]indole-2-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.30 g, 0.99 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (0.5 mL).Add methanol solution of hydrogen chloride (5 mL, 3.0 mol/L),The reaction was carried out for 2 hours at room temperature. The reaction solution was adjusted to pH=8 with sodium bicarbonate solid. Filtered, the filtrate was concentrated, residual solids by silica gel column chromatography [Dichloromethane/methanol (v/v) = 9/1] purified, the title compound was obtained (0.20 g, yield 99%). It is a black solid.
