Steps:
A suspension of 2.1 g (9 mmol) of 5-chlorosulfonyl-2-oxindole in 10 mL (20 mmol) of 2 M ammonia in methanol was stirred at room temperature overnight. The precipitate was collected by vacuum filtration, washed with water and dried under vacuum to give 0.4 g (21% yield) of the title compound.
