Steps:
1-7 Synthesis of 4-hydroxy-2-butanone catalyzed by D-proline
In a 2000ml three-necked flask with a thermometer, reflux condenser (with nitrogen protection on the upper part of the reflux tube) and mechanical stirring,500ml tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether, 300g acetone (5mol),75g formaldehyde (2.5mol), 57.5g D-proline.Start the stirrer and react for 24 hours at room temperature.After the reaction is over, remove the stirrer and condenser,Change the reaction flask to a distillation device, and distill acetone under normal pressure. It takes about 2h.Then distill 203g of 4-hydroxy-2-butanone (105°C/50mmHg) under reduced pressure,Yield 92.3%, purity 98%
