Example 3; Preparation of 3-benzyloxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde oximeHydroxylamine hydrochloride (50.25 g, 0.723 mol) and sodium acetate (59.31 g, 0.723 mmol) were added to a stirred solution of 3-benzyloxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (35 g, 0.144 mol) (example 2) in ethanol (200 mL). The reaction mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature for about 50 minutes. Ethanol was removed under reduced pressure, residue was poured in water (250 mL) and extraction was done with ethyl acetate (2×150 mL). Ethyl acetate layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, filtered and finally concentrated under reduced pressure to afford title compound. Yield: 36 g (96.8%).
