Steps:

5 g (28 mmol) of chloro-phenyl hydrazine, 3.86 g (28 mmol) of potassium carbonate and 4.7 g (28 mmol) of 2-cyano-3-methoxy-acrylic acid ethyl ester were added to 100 ml, then the resulting solution was reacted for 24 hours under reflux. After the reaction, 150 ml of ethylacetate was added thereto and the resulting solution was washed twice with 100 ml of water. An organic layer was separated and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate to remove solvent, whereby 6.88 g (26 mmol) of the title compound was obtained in a yield of 92%. Mass (EI) 266 (M++1) NMR : lH-NMR (CDCl3) 6 7.78 (1H, s), 7. 52-7. 47 (4H, m), 5.28 (2H, brs), 4.31 (2H, q, J=8Hz), 1.37 (3H, t, J=8Hz)
