e) 2-Chloro-6-methyl-benzooxazole (2e); Intermediate 1f is placed at 0°C in 1.76 ml_ of thionyl chloride. 0.47 ml_ of DMF is poured drop-by-drop in such a way as to keep the reaction medium at 0°C, after which it is stirred for 1 h at this temperature. After evaporation under vacuum the medium is taken up by water and extracted using ethyl acetate. The organic phases are dried and reduced to dryness. The residue obtained is purified by flash chromatography on silica (Petroleum ether-AcOEt, gradient 100-0 to 80-20 over 20 min). 0.66 g of oil is obtained (yield 65%). TLC silica gel 60 F 254 Merck, CH2CI2-MeOH:90-10, Rf=0.80.
