Steps:

1.3 synthesis of 2, 4, 7-trimethyl-1-indanone

with a mechanical stirring, to the reflux condenser of 1 liter to three-opening bottle 132 g (0.44mol) no water AlCl ₃ powder and 600 ml carbon bisulfide, mixing, heating to reflux, through the dropping funnel to the three port slowly adding in the bottle 110.9 g α-bromo -2,5-dimethyl- phenyl isopropyl ketone, continue to reflux 1 hour. After cooling to room temperature the reaction mixture is poured in ice/hydrochloric acid mixture. Separating the organic phase, gas through the gas flow remove carbon disulfide. The remaining liquid extraction with ethyl ether, water-free Na ₂ SO ₄ drying, to 43.1 g 2, 4, 7-trimethyl-1-indanone, yield 56%.
