Steps:
1 Step 1: 2,2-difluoroethyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (A1)
To a solution of compound 2,2-difluoroethanol (8.2 g, 100 mmol) in DCM (200 mL) at 0 oC was added Et3N (15.1 g, 150 mmol) and TsCl (19.0 g, 100 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at 0 oC for 0.5 h, then poured into water and extracted with DCM (200 mL x 3). The combined organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (23.6 g, 100%) as colorless oil without further purification.
