Part (i)

The synthesis of vital intermediate 5-methyl-1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid 2a by simple procedure that involves reacting ethyl 5-methyl-1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylate (1a, 0.306 g, 1.00 mmol) with 10% NaOH (10 mL) solution in refluxing MeOH (10 mL) for 4h. After completion of the reaction (monitored through TLC), the reaction mixture was evaporated to half of its volume, cooled and acidified with ice-cold dilute hydrochloric acid (pH ≈ 2) to obtain 5-methyl-1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid 2a as white solid in 95% yield (0.264g).
