3.2.7. Synthesis of 1-(Piperazine-1-yl)ethan-1-one (7)
To a stirred mixture of piperazine (C4H10N2) (1.70 g, 19.70 mmol, 2.0 eq.) and dichloromethane(50 mL), acetic anhydride (C4H6O3) (0.94 mL, 9.90 mmol, 1.0 eq.) was added at 0 C and the mixturewas stirred for 5 h. After the reaction was completed, the reaction mixture was quenched with water(15 mL) and extracted with dichloromethane, the organic layer then dried over sodium sulfate (Na2SO4),filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to aord 7 (0.26 g, 20%) as a colorless solid. 1H-NMR(400 MHz, CDCl3): 2.13 (3H, s), 3.40-3.70 (8H, m). 13C-NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3): 21.3, 41.2 (2C),45.7 (2C), 169.1. HRMS (FAB+) calculated for C6H12N2O [M + H]+: m/z = 129.0949, found 129.1031.
