The appearance of blood coagulant is a white suspended liquid, non-toxic and harmless, with a faint smell, usually composed of silica powder, emulsifier, thrombin and alcohol, surfactant and so on.

When the coagulant is added to the test tube, it can be added manually or sprayed by machine. During the addition, it needs to be stirred continuously to keep the suspended liquid uniform. After stirring and adding, it must be air-dried with hot air.

Precautions when using coagulants:

1. If the temperature of the blood collection condition is less than 20℃, not only an appropriate amount of coagulant should be added, but also the number of inversion mixing should be increased to prolong the coagulation time. In addition, if you want to quickly test, you can use a water bath at 36℃.

2. The blood must be fully exposed to the coagulant. If the coagulation is insufficient, blood cells and fibrinogen may hang on the wall of the tube, or mild hemolysis may occur, and the serum cannot be separated after centrifugation.

3. Pay attention to the full contact between the blood and the coagulant. If it is not evenly contacted, centrifuge it, it is easy to form a jelly-like coagulation or the specific gravity of fibrin filaments is smaller than that of blood clots, staying in the serum layer, and part of it will be attached to the tube. around the wall.

4. Once the package is opened, it should be sealed and stored under environmental conditions below 4°C, and used within one week.

5. If it is found that the coagulant has a special taste, and the particles are uneven, the color is not pure, and the expiration date is exceeded, it should be stopped.

6. The coagulant is an organic solvent liquid, with a slight smell, flammable, non-toxic and harmless, but in the process of experimental testing, it is still necessary to wear professional clothing to avoid direct contact with human skin.
