Evodiamine is a tryptamine indole alkaloid.  It is extracted from the fruit of Evodia japonica and can increase blood pressure. Also Evodiamine has a variety of pharmacological activities, such as anti-obesity, anti-allergenic, analgesic, anti-tumor, anti-ulcerogenic, and neuroprotective activities.

Pharmacological effects

1. Anti-tumor

1) Inhibit tumor cell proliferation, induce tumor cell apoptosis and necrosis

Evodiamine can induce apoptosis of various tumor cells such as human liver cancer HepG2, melanoma A375-S2, cervical cancer HeLa and so on. 

2) Inhibit tumor cell invasion and metastasis

2. Neuroprotective

Evodiamine can prevents allergic heart damage.

3. anti-obesity

Evodiamine can reduce the content of CGRP in serum and abdominal aorta.

4. anti-allergenic, analgesic

Evodiline exerts analgesic effect through sensory nerve desensitization.
