Senktide exhibits selective interaction with the tachykinin receptor subtype (SP-N) and can be used for research to identify the regulatory, distribution, and functional roles of this receptor. Senktide is a peptide that acts as a tachykinin NK-3 receptor agonist and may lead to behavior similar to serotonin stimulation in mouse models. It has been noted that NK-3R (tachykinin NK-3 receptor) can mediate bronchoconstriction in guinea pig lungs, and activation of these receptors by Senktide has also been shown to induce bronchoconstriction. In addition, Senktide has been shown to induce a greater number of Fos-LI neurons in many regions of the guinea pig brain.
