Calcium tellurite has the molecular formula of
CaTeO3 and the molecular weight of 233.6015 g/mol. It
can be formed via the solid-state reaction:
CaO+ TeO2+ heat ? CaTeO3
An inert atmosphere is required. This salt is a metatellurite.
If the solution method is used, a monohydrate
is formed:
CaCl2+ Na2TeO3 ? CaTeO3·H2O+ 2NaCl
Additionally, this compound can be prepared by
reacting tellurium dichloride in a solution of calcium
chloride:
CaCl2+ 2TeCl2+ 3H2O ? Te+ CaTeO3·H2O+ 6HCl |
